findbyo
findbyo answers a question no general search does well: "can I bring my own bottle, and what will it cost me?" Ask Claude whether a specific restaurant is BYO and it gets the real listing: the corkage fee (including explicit free corkage, and whether it is charged per bottle, per person or per glass), which drinks are allowed (wine, beer, spirits), the venue's notes, and part-time BYO schedules. Some restaurants only allow BYO on certain weekdays, and findbyo answers "is it BYO today?" in the venue's own timezone. Or ask for BYO restaurants near a suburb, city, or point on the map. Results come back nearest-first with distances, and can be filtered by cuisine, maximum corkage, free corkage only, and drink type. Coverage spans 1,350 BYO venues across 28 cities: every Australian capital with Sydney and Melbourne in depth, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Shanghai. The data is honest by design. Listings carry a verification tier, from "community-verified by diners" down to "researched, not yet confirmed, call ahead". Venues known not to allow BYO say so outright, and a restaurant missing from the database is reported as "no data", never guessed. Locations are verified against Google Places. You can also contribute. Ask Claude to add a BYO restaurant that is missing, or to report a listing that is wrong. Both go to findbyo's review queue, and a person checks each one before the map changes. findbyo is free and needs no account or sign-in. Looking things up collects nothing about the person asking. Contributing stores what you submit plus the email or mobile you give, so findbyo can tell you the outcome.
