GameGene
GameGene records the lineage of game design: which idea in which game came from where, why its designers chose it, and what it passed on, with sources for every claim. This connector lets Claude read those records, so you can look up design precedents while you make a game, or understand the history behind the games you play. Ask questions like "I'm designing a roguelike. What precedents are there for making losses feel fair, and what did the designers intend?", "Where did showing the enemy's next move come from, and why did designers adopt it?" or "What design precedents bring players back every day? Include sources." Claude answers from GameGene's sourced records and links to the pages it used. When GameGene has no record of something, Claude is told to say so instead of guessing, and not to state a claim more strongly than its recorded confidence. What you can read: games and their design moves with evidence, genes (families of mechanics), heuristics (design judgments that recur across games), people and their quotes, trivia, public research notebooks, and what readers read most. With your own GameGene account you can also read your own records: games you know or want to know, favorites, viewing history, requests and notebooks. Your own records are returned only to you. The connector is read-only. It never writes to GameGene. A free GameGene account is enough; Supporters get a higher daily limit. Most content is in Japanese, with English available for much of it; Claude translates what it uses.
