Portata
Portata is a counter an independent restaurant puts on its own website so that a person, or the AI assistant acting for them, can order food. Think of it as a personal AI drive thru. Not the restaurant's machine taking an order, but the customer's own AI assistant pulling up to a lane built for it and ordering on their behalf. This connector is that counter, as tools. It reads one restaurant's board the way a regular would: tonight's menu, what each dish actually costs, what the kitchen has run out of, what the restaurant would send instead, and what the owner suggests alongside a dish. Then it can place the order. Eight of the nine tools only read. One places the order, and it is the only one that changes anything. An AI assistant can explore the whole menu, price a basket as many times as it likes and change its mind, without anything happening at the restaurant. It cannot invent a price. Placing an order requires sending back the exact total the restaurant quoted, and the restaurant refuses any order whose total does not match its own, to the cent. An AI assistant that gets a price wrong gets a refusal and a sentence explaining why, not a cheap meal. Money never passes through Portata. Where a restaurant takes payment before cooking, the answer carries a link for the person to pay on the restaurant's own page. The payment stays between the customer and the restaurant. Everything the connector reads is already public on that restaurant's own ordering page, so there is no account to create and nothing to sign in to. Each restaurant chooses to be reachable and can stop at any time. The menus, the prices and the recommendations are theirs, not ours.
