RentBuy.org
RentBuy.org compares renting and buying a home over 30 years, in US dollars, using the same model as the rentbuy.org website. Ask Claude to open the interactive calculator in the conversation: edit purchase, mortgage, rental, investment and simplified US tax assumptions, see net-worth and spending charts, and read a year-by-year report. The Explain this scenario button hands the current numbers back to Claude to discuss. Claude can also answer without the panel: - run one scenario and get the winner, both households' net worth, the break-even year and year-1 monthly costs - compare up to ten named variants side by side, such as a 15-year and a 30-year loan - sweep one or two inputs to find where the answer flips, such as the rent at which buying wins Every input is optional and falls back to the site defaults. Household income and filing status pre-fill the federal tax rate and standard deduction from the 2026 IRS tables. One-time costs such as a roof replacement can apply to the buyer only or to both households. No sign-in is required. The tools are read-only and deterministic, and nothing you send is stored. Results are educational estimates, not financial advice or forecasts. The model omits the SALT cap, the mortgage-interest limit, PMI and capital-gains tax.
