Shellway lets ChatGPT work on your own computer or server, from your phone or browser, without opening ports or setting up a VPN. Install the small Shellway app on the computer you want to control (npx shellway pair YOUR-CODE). It connects out to Shellway, and ChatGPT can then: - read, write and edit files, move and rename them, create folders - search a folder by file name or by text inside files, with filters and context, including big searches in the background - run commands, and start programs that keep running (a dev server, a Python session), check on them and stop them - list your paired computers and whether they are online You stay in control. Start the app with --readonly and ChatGPT can only read, search and list. Remove a computer from your dashboard at any time. Shellway passes requests between ChatGPT and your computer and does not store your file contents or command output; it logs only the time, tool name and result. Sign in with Google. Needs Node.js 22 or newer on your computer (Linux, macOS, Windows; Linux is the most tested). Your computer must be on and running the Shellway app. Run the app as a normal user, not as an administrator.
