Australian courts expect the practitioner to confirm that cited authorities exist, and say that verification must not rest on a generative AI tool alone. TrueCite is the lookup that does not rest on one: each Australian case citation is checked against the court and publisher listings it discloses, with no model anywhere in the answer, so the check does not come from the same place as the claim. It answers whether the case exists — never whether it supports the proposition it is cited for, and never quotations, content or good-law status. Coverage is partial and stated with every result, and a citation it cannot resolve means confirm at source: it is not a finding that the case does not exist.
