Zovo Citation Generator
Turn a DOI or an ISBN into a correctly formatted citation for a student paper or a research reading list, using live registered DOI and ISBN metadata. Type a DOI (10.1038/nphys1170), a doi.org link, or an ISBN-10/ISBN-13, and Zovo Citation Generator looks the record up live: authors, title, year, journal or book, volume, issue, pages and publisher come from the registration. See the citation in APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago author-date and Chicago notes-bibliography, with the author rules for 1, 2, 3 and up to 21 or more authors, sentence case for APA titles and title case for MLA and Chicago, and italics kept in the HTML preview. A source with no DOI or ISBN goes through the manual tool: type the type, authors, title, year, container, volume, issue, pages, publisher, URL and access date, and it is formatted the same way. The result is a works cited or reference list, sorted the way the style requires (by first author family name, then year; a source with no author sorts by title). One DOI or ISBN is one citation card, and a list of up to 25 is formatted in one call. Download the list as BibTeX for your reference manager, RIS for reference software, or a plain text reference list, and copy any single citation from the widget. When a record is missing a year, an author, a journal or a publisher, the citation follows the style rule (APA shows n.d. for no year) and a warning names the missing field. Legal, patent and dataset records get a generic format with a warning. It reads the registered value and names the source and the retrieval time. Check your citations before you submit academic work.
