Zovo Depreciation Schedule

ChatGPTby Zovo

Depreciation calculator for tax and bookkeeping, for small businesses, landlords and bookkeepers. Describe an asset, or paste your fixed-asset list, and get a year-by-year depreciation schedule with accumulated depreciation and book value, rounded to the cent, plus a PDF, an Excel workbook and a CSV. Supported methods are straight-line with salvage value and a first year prorated by the months in service; 200% (double declining) and 150% declining balance with the switch to straight-line when it gives more; sum-of-the-years' digits; units of production; and US MACRS GDS using the IRS Publication 946 percentage tables. The MACRS depreciation calculator covers Table A-1 half-year and Tables A-2 to A-5 mid-quarter for 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 20-year property, Table A-6 for 27.5-year residential rental property and Table A-7a for 39-year nonresidential real property (mid-month). Each year is rounded to the cent and the last year absorbs the rounding, so the schedule totals basis minus salvage (for MACRS, the full basis). When you send several assets, it builds each schedule, adds totals by year, and runs the IRS 40% test to decide between the half-year and mid-quarter conventions. Rows it cannot read are listed with the reason instead of being dropped. If you leave out a method, life or date, it uses a stated default (for example 7-year for MACRS property with no class, 27.5-year for a rental house) and says so. The widget shows the book value curve with yearly depreciation bars, the table, and download buttons. It works as a depreciation schedule template you can fill in from a chat message, a pasted CSV or an attached CSV or Excel file. It is informational only and not tax advice. Section 179 expensing and bonus depreciation are not modeled (reduce the basis yourself if you elect them). ADS, short tax years, fiscal years other than the calendar year, and dispositions are not modeled.
